Brent Sutter
Brent Sutter, born in 1962 in Viking, Alberta, is one of the six Sutter brothers who made a significant impact in the NHL. Drafted 17th overall by the New York Islanders in 1980, Brent played over 1,000 games in his 18-year career, contributing to the Islanders' Stanley Cup victories in 1982 and 1983. Known for his exceptional face-off skills and leadership, he also represented Canada internationally, winning the Canada Cup three times. After retiring, Brent transitioned into coaching and management, owning the Red Deer Rebels and leading Team Canada to gold in the World Junior Championships in 2005 and 2006.
Brian Sutter
Brian Sutter, born in 1956, was the eldest of the six Sutter brothers who played in the NHL. Drafted by the St. Louis Blues in 1976, he spent his entire 12-year playing career with the team, serving as captain for nine seasons. Known for his gritty play and leadership, Brian transitioned into coaching after retiring as a player, leading teams like the Boston Bruins, Calgary Flames, and Chicago Blackhawks. He was awarded the Jack Adams Award as NHL Coach of the Year in 1991, solidifying his influence in the game beyond his playing days.
